Nobody Likes to think About Insurance until they need it! ...
Another thing you will have to consider, this is Buildings and Contents Insurance and Life Insurance if your letter you will need Public Liability too. It’s possible you could do this through your local Moroccan bank but I imagine at best your policy will be in French and most likely it will be in Arabic. I’ve trawled the internet for you as I’m going to need this too for my investment properties as I intend to rent them.
You need to have buildings insurance in place before you complete on a property and will have to show the notary proof of a policy that starts on or before your completion date.
I’ve found and English speaking company happy to insure holiday homes aborad who will provide you with a free quote. The quote I asked for was £150 for buildings and contents which is as good as you'll get.
A summary of their service is
Property insurance is designed for UK-based owners of overseas holiday homes.
Comprehensive cover underwritten by one of the world’s leading insurers, Norwich Union, that includes essential features such as cover during letting and protection when the property is unoccupied. It also covers parts of the home that may be excluded in ‘community’ policies.
Understand and know how to work with legislation overseas. Claims are settled
by professional local loss adjusters. All policy documents are in English and all enquiries
and claims are handled by a UK-based,
English speaking support team.
I've put a link below to their site.
Your life insurance is likely to be required if you take out a Mortgage to finance the property and most probably you will have to take out a product from the bank doing the financing, its not usually very much but again you need to build it into your costings.
