The Magic of Morocco

However, to me and my family Morocco is even more than just an investor’s dream.

A friend once told me, “you can’t out give a Moroccan.”

Willingness to accept different people of different backgrounds seems to be motivated by Morocco’s great desire for progress.

I invite you to consider not only investing your money in Morocco, but also a bit of your life.

By now many of us know of the potential for capital growth in Morocco and the King’s goals for increased tourism and foreign investment. I, myself, am an excited purchaser of property here with tremendous Sea views and much room for financial gain. However, to me and my family Morocco is even more than just an investor’s dream, more than “the next best place to purchase a home.” Morocco is a land of wonder, beauty and rich culture. And now, for us, Morocco is home. There are a few traits in particular which, to me, make Morocco one of the best places in the world to live. These are the same qualities which make Morocco one of the best places to own a holiday home.

The first wonderful thing one experiences when entering even slightly into Moroccan culture is the importance of hospitality. A friend once told me, “you can’t out give a Moroccan.” It didn’t take many months living in Morocco to fully understand what he meant. Since arriving here my family and I have been overwhelmed by the invitations we’ve received to dine with friends. One suggestion when eating in a Moroccan’s home, nibble through every course, always leaving room for what is sure to follow. The richest of feasts can be expected even in the most humble of Moroccan homes. And if ever you find yourself out with my buddy Hakim, you had better pay the bill as soon as you order or he will surely beat you to it. Though he earns a modest salary, he insists on hosting those of us visiting his country. Few places or people can make one feel so instantly welcome.

Another powerful current flowing throughout the country is the value of acceptance. Moroccans themselves are very diverse in ethnicity and culture. There are three major Berber groups, each with a unique language and culture. You must add to these a mixture of Arab, French and Spanish cultures and language to fully capture the essence of Morocco. The merging of these various backgrounds has given birth to a nation committed to the acceptance of one another. Morocco is where East comfortably meets West and traditional successfully meets modern. Often my clients ask me how Moroccans view the arrival of foreigners purchasing property. As with one another, they are opening their accepting arms to us and are excitedly anticipating the positive change such openness is creating. Everyday on my way to our developments I see the genuine affirmation of our presence through the smiles and waves offered by those who have called this home long before we.

This willingness to accept different people of different backgrounds seems to be motivated by Morocco’s great desire for progress. From the King, and regional and local government officials, to the individuals in the café down the street, everyone here seems poised for development. The small fishing village of M’Diq stands as a symbol of this spirit. At least twice each day I drive through this town which has undergone a complete renovation in the past seven months. What was once dirt is now park area, palm trees and quaint shops. Each night the townspeople pour out of their homes to stroll on the ever growing beach promenade which finds its start in M’Diq. Their laughter and merriment serve as a stamp of approval on their King’s vision to transform Morocco. Committed to not ruining the natural beauty of the land or culture, Moroccans are equally committed to the betterment of their country. Together we serve as partners in this dream.

I invite you to consider not only investing your money in Morocco, but also a bit of your life. In the same way your financial deposit stands to grow and see tremendous return, you as a person stand to gain much from this exotic land rich in language, food and culture. Morocco has opened itself to the world to come and benefit from its tremendous vision for development and progress. In the process of benefiting from this great financial opportunity, may each of our lives be enriched by the magical allure that is Morocco and its people.

Does this sound the sort of person you would want to do business with, my answer is yes if your is too let me know ...........

Their View June 2008

Investors in Morocco look set to avoid the global downturn as the country’s economy continues to steam ahead. The country’s index of leading shares (MASI) has risen by more than 13%* since the start of 2008, compared to a fall of more than 11% in the FTSE 100** over the same period. Buying property in Morocco is being hailed as a recession proof real estate investment.

The Moroccan property market has boomed in recent years, fuelled by massive improvements in new roads and motorways and an increasing number of flights. Tourist numbers are set to double to 10 million by 2010 as visitors take advantage of the comparatively low price of property. The country offers incredible value, with beach front properties costing around one third of similar units located just a few miles across the Mediterranean Sea in southern Spain.

Compass Properties is developing three sites along the Mediterranean coast and early bird investors are sitting on handsome profits, with the expectation of further growth to come. Steve Burns, Marketing Manager for Compass Properties, commented: “At Mirador Golf, which has just been completed, 1 bedroom apart-hotel units released off plan for £19,000 are now re-selling for £27,000. Investors at Playa Vista - our marina development - have fared even better, with property values doubling in 2 years.”

Moroccan specialist Compass Properties believes the country offers a safe haven to any property investor worried by the credit crunch. “Morocco enjoys a very stable economy as most of the leading companies are Morocco-owned and are less-influenced by what is happening in the global markets. Huge inward investment, low cost of living and fabulous weather make Morocco a dream destination – for tourists, property owners and investors alike.”
